Default T-Top Hardware Question

Hi folks,

I have a 69 coupe which I'm finally getting around to adjusting the T-Tops on, and addressing issues of missing hardware.

For the T-top rear mount plates, I'm missing their retainers, so there is nothing to screw them in to, to attach them. Is there a rear plate available, or was this originally attached to the frame?

I'd love to find something over the counter, but will just fabricate a plate if need be.

Also, I'm missing the right side main locator pin for the t-top, and can't seem to find these anywhere.... is there a better search term than "t-top locator pin"?

Thanks,

tbw

The missing retainers might be in your car. They can drop to the bottom when the exterior mounting screws are removed.

Hi,
On the rear, are you referring to the chrome locking wedge on the rear corner of the T-top? If so, this screws to the frame. Look at your AIM.
For the front locating pin, you'll probably need to find a used one in the parts section on the forum, or ebay.

I agree i would look in the channel area between the bolt holes and bottom. They can drop and wedge before reaching the bottom, i always leave a screw or place 1 temp pop rivet before removing all screws just so they don't drop. They are a pain to fish back up....

It doesn't screw to the frame, because the backing plate is missing. Or whatever used to be back there before, attached to the frame, is no longer attached to the frame. This car was a rescue from somewhere south of the border -- it's probably in the back lot of a Tijuana chop shop in a box marked "miscellaneous".

AIM ? A.wesome I.nstruction M.anual ? Mine didn't come with one of those.

I'm leaning towards fabrication at this point. It's sounding like none of the major vendors sell this piece.

thanks for the suggestions,

tbw
