Default Trans Done But Another Problem

I finally got the correct input shaft after they lost my order then sent the wrong one. I got it two days ago so I assembled the trans one night and got to it today. I got it all buttoned up started it and everything was going good. Took it for a short spin around the block everything looks good. Take my son for a short drive and notice that dreaded sweet smell of coolant. Nothing on the carpet maybe it will go away. No luck :nonod: The heater core is now toast. I guess all the sitting rotted it out. It was 10 years ago it was replaced and I can't remeber if I really replaced it. Now I'm thinking about bypassing it for a while and replacing it later. The car has been layed up for 7 weeks with the trans so I want to drive it. It now sits dripping a little fluid in a pan under the car. It is dripping outside and not on the carpet so far. Looks like more work tomorrow.

Loop it off and drive the thing. You'll have plenty of time to change the heater core come December.

You might find out that you don't really miss it!
