My washer pump is not working, but I'm not sure which pump I should replace it with as it looks like I have two pumps. I have included photo's of my pump arrangement. Can someone advise me as to what is what.
Hi Mark, from the photos, you have the original 1969 washer pump set up. The part on the passenger side draws washer fluid from the washer fluid container and sends it via the 2 lower outlets to the selonoid on the drivers side. The 2 hoses from the passengers side connect together into one hose that supplies the drivers side selonoid. The drivers side selonoid sends washer fluid either to the windshield or the headlights, depending on how you operate the washer button. This a one year only set up. If you want to retain the 1969 headlight washer system that pump on the drivers side is reproduced if your is not working. Or you could fix your washer pump and using the set up on the passengers side just spray the windshield.
The windshield/headlight washer system is explained in the 1969 Chevrolet Chassis Service Manual. A 1969 Assembly Instruction Manual is helpfull too as it shows all the washer hose routing and istallation.
If you decide to remove the headlight washer system do not throw it away. Originals are sought after and they have only been reproduced in the last couple of years.
