so I took some time away from the family to removed the Harmonic Balancer on my 1972 LT1. After is finally seperated from the crank the first thing I noticed was the groove on the outer dia, I am thinking thats where the timing chain cover seal was riding on.
Can I re-surface this, sanding it with fine sand paper. I have a lathe to turn it and apply the fine sand paper to it or just play it safe and replace it? I am about just replacing it but I would like everyone's thoughts on it. If I was to replace the unit, any suggestion which one to replace it with. I was looking around, there's is many to pick from. What's the advantage on some the runs in the hundreds? This car for week end driving and maybe daily driver during the none rainy days. Thank you.
