Air filter base gasket, hate it
I have never liked the gasket that the filter base sits on. The base has a thin sharp edge and the gasket never fits it right.
So I set out to make it better, I wanted a better seal and the base to fit snug.
I took a piece of small vacuum hose and split it were it would fit over the sharp edge of the filter base. Then I cut it to length and slid it onto the filter base. The fit is snug and the base does not move around like before.

The rolled edge at the carb creates a "dead zone" that can be alleviated with a piece of low voltage malibu wire, or even a rubber O-ring. Car Craft found 10 hp on one of their truck builds by addressing this area in a similar vein.
