I bought this "MONEY PIT" and started to do a rebuild in a systematic way. I told my self that I'm going to start at the front and work my way to the rear. And I have pretty much stuck to my plan . Everything that needed replaced up front has gotten replaced. Same for the interior. I WAS just getting to the parking brake when I realized my whole *** end needed to be replaced also. I just removed everything that "use to be" my rear suspension. All was wasted. My trailing arms need a complete rebuild/replacement. The arms themselves seem to be OK. Everything on the arms are shot. I'm considering sending/bringing them to VS for a rebuild or exchange.
What are the benefits to the OFFSET trailing arms? Is it just wheel clearance? I'm just building a driver and am happy with stock wheels and tires size.
My wife calls this car a BIG GO CART, and has threatened to leave me several times because of it. I'm weighing my options as to which one costs me more money And which one I'll be happiest with in the end.
Not to hijack, but I have both sets available. The offset are brand new, and can come with the bearing assemblies, and I am parting out a 68 chasis, so they are used, but look to be in good condition. They towed without any noise whatsoever. I even rode on the frame listening to them and the rear differential while my FIL drove. Sounds very tight. Goodluck with the rebuild. Just give the wife a dozen roses and then go in and work on your car. Hasn't failed me yet. :0)
If your happy with stock rim and tire package, just go with stock arms. The offsets are stronger and they do give you extra tire clearance but if your not upgrading the rim and tire package, stock arms are just fine.
