I just made it to the parking deck this morning... as I have just lost my brakes.
The Brake light on the dash is on.... and I have no resistance at the brake pedal. I have to pump many times to get just enough braking to stop the car.
No fluid leaks anywhere. Reservoir is full. New brake lines and calipers.
So what would my issue be? I need a good solid direction to narrow down what the problem is as quickly as possible. What tests can I perform to figure it out? Proportioning valve? Brake booster?
Thanks in advance for your quick replies. As I am stranded at the moment... I do not have the time to search the forums.
I changed out the brake lines, calipers and the master cylinder all at the same time and haven't had any problems. I bled the lines as per the shop manual which says to bleed in the following sequence: Left rear inner and left rear outer, right rear inner and right rear outer, left front then right front. My guess is that you probably have a bad 30 year old master cylinder if you bled the lines correctly.
