Hi everyone, I have a pro comp steel flywheel for my 71 454. My OE style clutch disc dosn't clear the flywheel to crank bolts. Any advice on a disc that will fit would be appreciated. The car is street driven only.
Thanks Jack
Since the flywheel bolts are recessed below the surface of the flywheel, the only way that a clutch disk would hit is if the disk is installed backwards. Ensure that the raised section of the disk's hub (which holds the springs) is installed away from the flywheel.
Thanks for your response Larry. If I install it that way it fits OK. However my OE disc is clearly stamped engine side on that side of the disc.
Thanks Jack

listen to larry....your disc springs go towards the pressure plate, either you have the wrong disc or it is mis marked....

Jeese that's scary to put it on when it is clearly stamped on one side so you know which way it goes. Personally I would check into it further, like phone the manufacturer unless the company is in Guangdong PRC

No kidding.. thats terrifying. I would be contact the company and trying to get it raised as a QA issue. Infact, I would hold off completely from installing the thing until you see if there may be any other reported quality issues.
