Sounds pretty mean What is the motor rated at in HP and TQ ?

Now you need to do is put L48 badges on the hood and go make some money at the track

It looks like a whole new hood is in order. Putting L48 badges on a big hump isn't gonna fool anyone, especially with the racket that thing is making....sweet!

Thats true for sure. I have an L-88 hood and it isnt going to cover it either. I am toying with some ideas but probably going to have a cut out with a scoop sticking through for awhile. I had one shipped to me but it is definately a bit extreme. I will figure somthing out for her though.

Sounds awesome! Hide your women and children when that sucker comes cruising by......

I am curious to see what you do about your hood. I also have an l88 hood that is not tall enough. I need about another 2" of height. I thought about trying to find a good body guy that could modify my current hood.....basically cut the top off of the cowl part and raise the whole thing 2"....I haven't looked into it much yet though.

Vanacor makes an extra tall L88 Hood. That might work. Congrats. I like those 572 engines.

I found the link. Looks like he change his wheels sometime after this post. Good looking car.

No but I used to tell them this was my time at the track, that's the best one

So that's some serious motor there and if you don't mind ball-parking a figure fully dressed so I can see what I could have had Not that I am not happy with my 427ci.

I like to make horsepower the old fashioned way, you earn it, you put together parts that work. Super / turbo chargers and nitrous are not for me. Take a look at the NHRA Pro Stock class and see what times they run with 500ci N/A motors.

Joel Rosen on the motion performance corvettes used an L88 hood with a 67 427scoop grafted on top and looked okay

Unfortunately those tall hoods are only available in LONG models....Screws us early (68-72) guys with the wiper door setup....

Also I would like that Vanacore hood better if they only raised the "bubble" of the hood, not the front section also......They made it a little more "goddy" then it needed to be.... IMOP...

I agree with you. I have seen the 5" cowl and may go with it at some point. Or possibly the combination of 67 portion grafted on top mentioned earlier. Until then I am going to cut the hood and use a long polished scoop mounted to the carb. Will get the flanges around the cut-out raised to some degree to tie it in.. Its big but so is everything else so thats the plan for a awhile. Could be a bit goddy though but I am hoping for more bad *** then goddy.

Meant to share this link. Its not a Vette, but its a nice looking impala with a 572. Not sure if its the GM crate engine like the OP has above, but the intake looks similar. The hood has a small cowl, but that is it. The valve covers are different. I know GM makes two versions of the 572. One in the 9:1 and 12:1 compression ratio. Not sure if the HP figures are accurate in the vid, the driver saying that is makes 750 HP on 9:1 CR. But I gotta say, this car sounds like its bringing death down the street. Its sounds wicked mean. Nice ride along and sound.

Default Happy Daze!

Good looking car, my favorite triple black! That tall deck and intake make's it hard to get the
Bonnet on it! Will be interesting to see what you do with the hood.Is the breather going to clear?...when it gets swapped over to the passenger side?
