Stock Steering Wheel is not centered. Its a 3 spoke wheel. the spoke that should be @ the 6 clock pos. Is Setting @ the 9 clock pos.
Would the steering control valve have to be removed to corect this with an alingment also?
No it does not have to be removed. Make sure the steering hub is in the correct location also. It should be able to be adjusted with the tie rod ends. Are both left and right tie rods about the same length or is one longer than the other.
If you pull the steering wheel off the steering shaft has a line on it. It should line up with the line on the hub. They are pretty small lines so it can be tough to see. It is possible to get it off a few teeth but more than likely it is the tie rod ends.
Thanks for the info... i will read thru this. i had repalced leaking s/c/v, i had to screw it in farther than the one i took off, to be able to get it to go into the idler arm. not sure if that affected the pos of the s/w.
Went back to corvette center. guy said i could adjust s/w with the t/r an measuring the distance of the tires.
So i tired that got s/w centered test drove it, but had to do it about 6 more times to just get the tires to stop screeming and to drive straight down the road. then s/w ended up @ 9 clock pos.
If i would of had the info you sent maybe things would of lined out right.
