Hello,
I have all of a sudden lost spark? It is a 68 but the engine is a 1970 350 with an Accel Points Eliminator. Here is what I have done: Checke for fuel..have plenty. Pulled a plug to check for spark by placing it next to engine for ground...no spark... Put a different coil on....no difference. Checked voltage at the coil. It is 8.67 volts. When I turn the engine over the volts seem to drop??? Is this normal? Yes, my battery is loosing charge but I just charged it. Also, I checked the wires from the ignition switch and all seem to be fine. I put a new cap and rotor on it to see.... but nothing??? I'm assuming at this point it could be the accel point eliminator? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you!!!
Alan
So did the test light flash when you cranked the engine or did it just light up fully? If it flashed, that's good. Then the points are opening and closing. If it lit up and stayed lit the whole time you cranked, then your points are out of adjustment OR your points eliminator is not working properly. Sounds like time to replace it!
Humm...i didn't crank it long enough. I'll redo it after work. I went ahead and ordered another Accel unit anyway. At this point I cant see what else it could be. Thanks for the help!
