Hey out there in Vetteland. How the heck does this pwr steering pump pully come off?? The shaft accepts an allen wrench, but what turns? Does the shaft have a screw on bushing? Also.. regular or reverse thread?
One more question please.. I'm trying to remove my pwr steering control valve to rebuild. I can't get the ball stud out of the pitman arm. :mad I've dropped the idler arm, but not the pitman. It's still attached to the gear box. Tried a pickel fork with mild tapping...no go..tried a punch and hammer from above (lightly tapping) no go. WTF?? Any and all advise is more than welcome. Thanks Guys.. and Gals!
Ed
Do a search on this one. There was a thread about this last week.
You need a pulley puller. You can borrow one for AutoZone. Jim Shea made a point about the pulley. If I remember correctly, manhandling this part can really screw up the pump.

Tried that, but unfortunatly most post titles don't contain the subject matter within...................... Any one out there that can help????
I press the pulley off the power steering pumps. You probably need a different fork with a thicker wedge that will separate the other deal or a bigger hammer! It should separate mght need to soak it with some good penetrant and WD 40 is not good penatrant:D The beat the you know what out of it! If all else fails some heat usually helps considerably although can burn the ends"rubber" Soak it and stick with it,it will come loose.
Here is a link for the rebuild of the cylinder.I have not looked at it so don't know if it will be of much help. http://zip-corvette.com/psr.htm
I made the post before on how to get the stupid pulley off. I tried turning that allen screw every different way possible. That screw had nothing to do with holding the pulley on. Go to autozone and borrow the tool, it takes about 2 minutes to pull the pulley with the tool.

So the pully is press fitted, and I need the puller... thanks!! :D
