Can anybody tell me what the difference is between the left and right spindle support? The reason I'm asking is that my '73 that I am restoring, according to the part number, has two left side spindle supports. In other words, there is a left hand spindle support installed on the right side.
I can't really figure out what the difference would be since the spindle support seems fairly semetrical.
Where the lower shock mount passes through support and strut rod the front hole is round, the rear hole is D shaped with a flat that matches the shock mount. mike...
Better get it right and check carefully the support. I purchased one from Willcox where the flat of the D was machined 'perfectly' at 90 degrees - wrong.
Willcox swapped it for me almost 4 months later. Great customer service!
On your 73 the same casting was used left and right and the difference as mentioned above was the machine process of the D in the lower section of the support. So in your case both supports carry the same part casting number 348103.

My illustrated Corvette parts catalogue shows 348103 as the left and 348104 as the right, 68-82 all.

Mike, You are correct, the support part numbers were 103-104 on the boxes but the casting number were the same and the part was just milled differently.
It gets kind of Tricky id'ing left from right for sure. It was kind of like the spindles for the early c1 cars and the spindles for the 49-52 passenger cars. They carried the same casting number but had a different cut to them and a different part number. To tell the difference apart you had to look for a daub of yellow paint on them.
