Shamby,
I bought the Eckler's kit. Yes the poly is the way to go. A bit more $ though. Keep in mind that the bushings in the upper and lower control arms have to be shop-pressed out and back in. Unless you have acess to that equipment. Some of the local vette shops im my area sell the control arms already resto-ed. Cleaned, degreased, painted with the new poly bushings installed with your exchanged control arms. Check with the shops in your local, if that's the way you want to go. Just a consideration for you. Good Luck, L8TER, Paul.
I got my front end rebuild kit from Vette Brakes. I got Poly - but be warned they may squeak unless you use some nice grease (I got some Marine Grease from hardware store and very few squeaks). I drilled out the old rubber bushings myself and then the poly just popped in - didn't need to use a press. I think with Rubber, though, you will need a press.
Be sure to check your "rag joint" as well. I rebuild my front end and still was unsatisfied. Turned out I needed to replace rag joint and tighten steering box. Jim Shea wrote up some nice procedures for this which you can find on corvettefaq.com.
What is the condition of the front end bushings? Are they cracked, split, chunks missing?
If they look OK, then first just try working on the steering. Also the shocks. I found that nice shocks made a huge difference to drive quality as well.
