I bought my 1980 C3 in Nov/01. I started with the front carpet. $240.00 Cdn. With the seats out
might as well take them apart and refinish the shells and repaint the frames. While I'm staring at the
bare floor should probably clean the surface rust off and undercoat. Since I've got the center console out
I'll clean it and replace the worn chrome trim and and missing pieces (shifter needle, heater/AC lens). Now I
need to pull out the gauge cluster and repaint the chrome trim and repair the missing fuel gauge needle.
Whoops...now the interior door panel carpeting doesn't look as black as the carpet. Off it comes. Now the
vinyl interior trim looks like sh#%. Needs to be refinished. Another Whoops...need to fix rust discovered under
front window trim. Today I'm looking at the back cargo area....When does it end?
or does it?
I'm finding the same pattern. I started my interior a couple of weeks ago intending to spruce it up a bit and now it's totally gutted waiting for a complete restoration. It'll go as far as your money will allow it and then some.
It will end when u sell it and get a new toy......Or get a different toy like a motorcycle........That really cut into my vette time....But it will Never END till I sell it
NEVER. How much money do you have? What's your credit limit on your credit cards? You have the 800 numbers memorized for Summit, JEGS, Ecklers, ZIP, & Mid America. You know your credit card numbers and expiration dates by heart. You run home after work and hide the credit card statements before the wife sees them. IT WILL NEVER EVER END. The first step is to say "I'm addicted to my corvette........."
It really never ends......if your lucky, you"ll get "distracted" for a little while and then come back to the Vette and quickly remember how much you love the obsession you have.....of course knowone else in your home can seem to understand it.
