Default LS1+Steeroids - which headers?

I am installing an LS1 and I already have steeroids on the car. My old 350 had flowtech long tube headers which had to be dimpled to fit. Anyone use headers on their LS1 with steeroids that does not touch the steering setup or have to be modified?

I called steeroids and they told me they were not 100% positive about headers for the LS1. However, they had some listed on their website known to fit with out any problems for a 350.

Thanks!

I have Melrose headers on mine sold to me by Speedhound. I also have my motor set back about 1 inch from stock so the Keisler 5 speed shifter would come through the floor in the correct place with the LS motor vs. the stock small block.

Clearance to the passengers side of the car.

Clearance to the drivers side linkage

These were bought uncoated for test fit when they were first coming out with the headers. After I put them on the car and saw they were good to go, I took them and had them ceramic coated.

BBK 3/4 length headers for a C5 will also fit. We have a customer running those on a '70 with an LS6.

Those are great photos, Eddie. Can we use them on our web site?

Glarior,
I don't know who's headers they use but I got mine from Turnkey. They fit real nice and tight. Plenty of clearance. I will post some photo's tonight, they are on my home computer.

I was thinknig of those but after doing some reading they don't preform as well as full length headers. Correct me if I am wrong....

Sure. Go right ahead. Mine is close to being an LS6, I have the heads but went a few steps farther on the cam. Sometimes, I wish I would have just installed a Z cam and called it a day.

Thank you, sir

glarior, in general shorty headers don't produce as much torque as full length so you are correct. I don't have any dyno numbers comparing those specific headers so I can't say how they perform.

Glarior,

Here's the pic I promised you. As you can see there is a ton of room between the ball joint and headers. The steering coupler is just hanging right now but tons of space.

Wow, that is looking good and you have tons of room! Interesting how headers go for 500-700 bucks but when you add corvette it goes over a grand!
