leaking side yoke????
Hi all;
I've got a leak (puddle is twice the size of a silver dollar after the car sits for a couple of days) on the drivers side where the yoke comes out of the differential. Any ideas :confused: on the usual cause for a leak at this location (seal, yoke, etc.). If it's the seal, is that a PITA to replace? I'm going to have a shop make the repair :eek: so about how many hours of labor?

The leak is due to a bad seal. That's the easy part. The harder part comes in once you determine why the seal is bad. if I were guessing, I'd say your side yoke is worn and has caused the seal to fail.
To fix, you're looking at removing the differential, then removing the yokes and replacing the seals, at a minimum. That's a fairly extensive amoutn of labor alone. Conventional wisdom would dictate to go ahead and have the entire differential gone through "while you're in there". Same goes with replacing bushings, etc. While it's apart, may as well go ahead and do it right.
