Default 73-75 Kickdown Switch FIX

Killed 2 birds w/1 stone today. Had no power to hood door on my 75 and the traney wasn't down shifting when WOT.
When I pulled the wire plug off the K/D switch I had power in it, and even though I thought I was "jumping" it, nothing would work-even though I had tested the Hood intake, and it worked.
So, I took the switch out-(yes it's a bitch)

Took the switch apart. -easy.
No springs fly out, but notice that the pin that engages the spring pushes through about in the middle of the spring.
The contacts were so crudded up with old hard grease that no contact was being made. Cleaned-put back together- and WAA-LAH- BOTH are working now.

This switch is simple internally, and if you are having this problem, chances are, it's just crud in your switch.

Still the usual issues of the carpet ht. etc. affecting the engagement of the switch, but that fix is available on other posts here.

I did the same to mine 4 years ago, still working good.

Not to hijack this thread, where is the K/D switch located? Mine just accelerates when I stomp on the gas. No kick down, just acceleration.

Just follow the accelerator pedal rod up about 8"s and you will see it or feel it, It's easier if you pull the air duct piece off that runs under that area. Use a flashlight.
And -you will be a little sore the next day from contorting yourself.
