I have been having the problem with the wiper door - coming up when I turn the car off. I installed a new Vacuum check and still not fixing the problem - it is now coming up when I turn on the car. And then when I turn off the car it goes down and then back up again. The lights are really working great and I dont want to mess that up.
But here is the strange thing - when I turn on the lights with the car running the wiper door will then go down...
I have check out diagrams and traced all the hoses correctly - the only thing I havent seem to find is the "Nipple to vacuum source" part that wilcox describes in his diagram. Could that be the problem..??
Mark, you have a vac leak. I bought a tool a couple of years ago that saved me tons of hours, it is expensive and I know most will never get one. It is a emissions tester that sends smoke through the lines, find a shop that has one and hook it up to the small vac line on the trico valve. You will be amazed in how quick it finds the leak.
I agree, A smoke machine is a great tool to find vacuum leaks. Has saved me a ton of time. You will find that many shops have one. Its almost a must with todays vehicles.

Thanks for the advice - right now that seem like my only option or pay someone to find the problem
I've never tried using smoke because the leaks usually show up in the same old places but I thought I remember someone saying there were "cans of smoke" you could buy to find leaks.
I am not sure if you can buy a can of smoke. My emission machine uses less than 4 psi of air. You will find leaks really quick, I was on the ledge before I bought it because they are expensive, but it has saved me so many hours it was well worth it. It is not worth it for this gentleman to purchase one, but I bet he can pay some $20 just to hook on up and find his leak.

Found some.. for $12 a can - will keep you guys posted.. we will see..
Well the only issue with that is the pressure can create a leak in a vacuum system. Example I have had some vac tanks on 68-72 cars hold pressure just fine but leak under vac. My smoke machine is using less the 4psi and I don't think you would hear that. I think it would be easier to find someone with one and try that.
OK!!! Found the problem.. and hopefully the only problem -
I used my air compressor at very very low pressure and connected it to the smaller hose from the value check - and I could easily hear the air leaking.. This is the problem.
I could not see how messed up it was - because the wiper blade rests right on top of it. It looks like the blade is the thing that caused this to break.. anyone heard of this.
I was going to suggest you take a look at that little valve until I got to the bottom of your thread...mine did the same thing a few years back. I think it's kinda the Achilles' heel of the wiper door system. The aftermarket replacement that I put on the car was pretty crappy quality as well; it's only a few years old and the rubber seal around it is in about the same shape as yours. Don't know if anybody's making decent-quality repops these days, seems like everything comes from China and the rubber is very poor quality...good luck.
ebay 40.00 just put in smoke machine as a search ,, it worked pretty good I used a air hose once I shot it in the hose
Wish I was at home , I would do some experimenting. I'm picturing a cigarette inserted in a tube backwards and then just blow the smoke into the system. Just a thought.

Anyways.. I am very happy I found it!!!
Glad you found the culprit , those valves can be a real pita.

I am glad you got it figured out. The system is not too complicated but there are allot of little parts in there that can cause issues. The import valves have been ok for the most part, however I would prefer if I could find some that were made in the USA also.
