My friend has an 82, He is getting rid of the crossfire and installing a manifold and carb. How do we connect the tranny? The crossfire has a different hook up then the carbs. Anyone done this before?
Maybe if you could be more specific in your question. My first thought was: with bolts.
I'm not familiar with the crossfire, but I think you might electronic controls for the tranny. With a carb you would have a vacuum modulator to control the shifting. There would be a vacuum line from the manifold to the vacuum modulator. I can't help you with a conversion if that is the case.
Assuming the TV cable ends are different, you could replace the TV cable with one for a carbed engine.
Then just buy the correct bracket for whatever carb he installs.
Yeah im talking about the electrical. The crossfire has a comp. giving it signals when to shift. If we change to a carb, we then have to change the tranny over to a vac. instead of electric. I just wanted to know if it can be done, and if anyone has already done so, what problems they might have encountered.
