Default 427 starting problem

Just changed my TI to pertronix on my 427 tri power.. I can get car started after trying for a while, but it runs rough and is throwing oil and gas mixture out tailpipe..I have probably fouled the plugs with excessive gas. Do i need to get some new plugs and regap them because of the pertronix? Any other suggestions? Only 38k on vette..

We need more information!
Did you pull the distributor out?
What is the timing set at?
Timing issues have nothing to do with oil coming out of the tail pipes, most likely water & carbon, raw gas yes!

Make sure you installed the distributor kit correctly, check pick up gap & wiring.
Pull plugs and inspect, replace/clean as required.
Check firing order against distributor plug leads.
Check distributor timing using timing light.
Let us know how you make out, lots of experinced guys on this forum!
