Default 1972 Seatbelt Diode

Does anyone know where I can purchase a 1972 seatbelt warning relay thermal diode...the little silver cylinder that mounts behind the dash. According to the tech manual it is supposed to heat up within a few seconds of starting the engine and when it reaches a certain temp it triggers to turn off the seatbelt warning light. I have checked many on-line stores but was only able to find the wiring harness (which I purchased) - this does not include the thermal diode and nobody seems to carry it. As of now, my seatbelt warning light does not turn off when the ignition is turned and so I had to pull the bulb to stop the annoyance. Thanks.

You must have an early production date 72, because later 72s didn't have it. My 72 is also an early car, #456 built in August 71. When I was restoring my car, I tried with no luck to find a replacement for that part. As far as I know, no one sells it. The original part was made by Sylvania. I ended up using an industrial 12v time delay relay to make it work.

do you have a pic of what one looks like? I may have one. Send your pic to mmcilyar@austin.rr.com and I'll go check.

Yes I have an early 1972 production...the cluster behind the dash has a sticker with a build date of August 16 1971...that means ours are very close in build!
