This problem is driving me crazy. '72 vett.... both my turn signals (right/left - front and back) work perfectly with the headlights OFF. But when I turn the headlights on, only the left signal flashes properly. The right side will NOT flash with the headlights ON.
Has anyone ever heard of this?
I have checked all grounds, cleaned inside of light sockets, replaced bulbs, etc. The car has been highly modified. It has a 1 wire alternator (100 amp), MSD ignition, and is a vintage racer.

Thanks for any input.
I had a similar issue with another car I just bought.
My right side would not flash with the headlights on. OK when headlights off.
dual filament globes... On my car the wire for the parking light filament was transposed for the wire for the indicator filament.... .
The proper globes have offset locating pins to ensure correct orientation.
It could also just be that someone has forced a non standard globe 180 degrees out of sync in the holder.
thanks for the input guys, but I do have 1157 bulbs, and I have verified they are oriented correctly. In fact, it would be impossible to install them 180 degrees out of sync without seriously ruining the socket. Also.... my turn signals DID work correctly at one time. ??? Then the right side started up with this problem. I cleaned the sockets and the problem disappeared, only to return a few weeks later.
Turn your 4 ways on and see if that has any effect. Sometimes, for what ever reason the 4 ways can effect the turn signal operation. At least in my world!
I know you said you checked the grounds but what your describing sounds like a ground problem. I would run a temporary ground to the right signal housing and see if that helps.
Ground a length of wire to the alt case or battery neg and touch the other end to the brass case of the bulb,if the bulb starts to flash then your problem is lack of ground.
Simular issue with mine...found out after chasing some wires that Bubba had been in there and wired an after market third brake light to my rear turn signal a very corrodided wire job as well. Disconectted the thing and the blinker was good to go...gonna wire the brake light to the brake switch this time.
Can't help you. Mine as doing really crazy stuff, instument lights blinking along with left turn signal, no turn signals with headlights on, etc. I the process of removing bulbs, lenses, housings for cleanup I inadvertantly fixed it

Good point, sometimes when the flasher module gos, weird things can happen. The hazards are on a different flasher module. Check to see if the hazards work correctly with the headlights on, and off. If they do, I would guess the problem is with you turn signal flasher.
