Default FYI Sand Blast Cabinet

Just putting this out there. I was able to get a needed sand blast cabinet for a restoration I'm doing. I read on this forum that some use play sand. I tried it and it was frustrating. Not siphoning to the gun and clogging. So I just picked up 100 grit aluminum oxide. World of difference. It cut fast, as not clogged and the gun picks it right up. Hope this will help someone doing the same thing. Use the right materials and life is good.

Glad to see you are using the right material... in the past people used silica based grit or straight sand...that is no more because of the extreamly harmful if inhaled. I understand that a small blast cabinate is mostly self contained, but some dust will leak out. The particals are so fine that they can even get through some resperators..

Be safe and enjoy to progress.. I love the way a sandblaster makes quick work of rust to clean like new metal!!!

I've used the Aluminum Oxide from Harbor Freight with good results. It runs $39.99 for 44 lbs.

However, I just started using Black Diamond. It's a lot cheaper and works just as well. Tractor Supply Company - $7.99 for 50 lbs.

I have a local masonary supply. I paid $52.00 for a 50lb. bag. Eastwood wanted close to the same plus $24.95 shipping.
