I deceided to take a brake from working on my new kitchen install today. So I took the Vette out. Here in N.Y. it's in the 60's and real sunny. Perfect for vette drivin weather. As I was stopped at a light on Sunrise Highway, here comes an awsome black C5 hardtop turning the corner headed in my direction. The guy actually slowed down and acknowledged me with a smile! Of course I gave hime a big wave and friendly hello. Is this year going to be a turnaround for the C5 people? Please if C5 owners read this, no hate mail. :D L8TER, Paul.
I had one come speeding up behind me, only to get next to me and slow down to roll his window down and ask "is that a '76 or '77".  Not only did he acnology me, but he knew the body styles pretty closely. After we talked for a few minutes(at 70 MPG), he pulled in front of me, and we rode nose to tail for about 20 minutes until I turned off(I didn't change my speed, he slowed down to keep with me). I gained a new respect for C5 people around here because of this guy. Sometimes they will suprise you.
I know what you mean. It seems I get snubbed by C-5's when I wave at them on the road. But just last weekend I met several of the C-5 forum folks at a get together at the Mall of America. Awesome people and I won't hesitate to get together with them again. I have a lot of respect for the C-5's sweet car.

When I don't have my vette shining, I don't seem to get as many waves. But when it is shining, I seem to get alot more looks from C4/C5ers. The C3ers don't seem to care.
Overall, I have very few C5ers wave. Most are C3/C4.
At 70 MPG? What engine do you have in your vette? I'm happy if i get 12 MPG

I've got a 4 banger out of a jetta. The desil monster. Im running 10's in the 1/4, with a 5.55 rearend. Ok so my MPG is only like 50, but C5's get about 20 MPG, so I combined them.

its funny you posted this today the same thing happened at lunch i went out for a drive and 4 c5,s waved i was in total shock and 2 of them were women waving, the guy i work with asked you know all those people? i said no why he says you waved at them and they waved back...i just said "its a corvette thing"
I can't wait to get my C3 running again, unfortunantly it hasn't run much since the C5 even came out  But I was riding in my friend's C4 and a guy pulled up next to us and gave us a big wave. It was deffinately the first time I had ever been in a vette and saw a C5 guy wave. Very  stuff!
You guys should be pissed when C5's don't wave. I love my C5, it's an awesom car, but I think a lot of C5 owners only own it because it is new. They don't take the time to learn about the Corvette community, and it's traditions. I put that right up there with moving to a different country and not wanting to learn the language or culture (don't get me started on that one!). I do my best to wave, and I think as the C6 comes out the C5 community will become more inline with eariler generations as the "gotta have the new" folks move on. :seeya
