Well, It been a month since i took of the ac compressor brackets and air pump on my 82 vette. The good news is my new headers sidepipes are installed; but now I have a couple of ac brackets and bolts and no clue how they go back. I know I need a spacer to put the ac bracket on the manifold stud, but the rest is confusing. I have a GM manual, but the one pic I found is pitiful. Can someone send some pics for a 1982 application or appropriate aim diagrams so I can reinstall my ac compressor? Also, any tips on how to reinstall the oil dipstick tube as that bugger wont go back in very easily....Pat
Thanks for pics. I was able to reassemble tonight. One question though.. Since I am now using headers and not the stock exhaust manifold, can I choose not to install the one last bracket arm that used to go from the top of the ac compressor belt adjustment bracket to the number 3 exhaust manifold stud.? The header bolt will not be long enough to hold the bracket arm and still bolt into header. I cant use the stock stud/bolt since the primary from the header interferes with the long stud/bolt. It seems to me the ac compressor is really solid without that last arm/bracket anyway...Pat
I'm confused, mine only has one stud on the first header hole. Is that what you're talking about? Yes, you do need this to support the side loading. Go to home depot and get a stud and 4 nuts. You can use one nut to snug the header and the others to use as jamb nuts and tighten the bracket.
