So far I've bent two pitman arm pullers and it remains stuck. I took the steering box and put it in my press with two 1/4 inch steel plates under the arm, essentially dangling the box under the press with the arm through the lower press bar, and pressed on the worm drive and one of the plates started to bend. Any ideas? Freaking thing is really stuck. If I heat the arm at the taper will it help release? I have about 1/4 inch between the arm and box. Trying to avoid banging the K-rap out of it with a pickle fork. Thanks for any suggestions
this is easier on the car...
attach the puller to the pitman arm.
tighten up the puller until it is very tight. hit the end of the puller with a large hammer. You do not need to hit it very hard.
tighten puller, hit with hammer, tighten puller, hit with hammer.
Repeat till cold
