I need to know the procedure for the fuel tank removal on a 79 vette ,also do I have to connect the vapor canister,I 'm not using any emissions , and who sells a new tank at a decent price out there
thanks in advance
i did my 79, siphon all the gas out, remove the spare tire & holder, undo the muffler hangers, remove fuel door and rubber sleeve, , unbolt fuel tanks straps and cross brace, i put a floor jack with a board under mine to lower it down a few inches, then reached in the fuel door area and removed the sending unit wires and i just cut the fuel lines with a razor knife,
doesn't sound that hard to do ,I thought the tank would be resting on top the frame, whats the deal with the repro tanks not having the bladder, is it necessary , also where can I get a new one reasonable
Bladder is not necessary. It was a safety measure only. You should get a gasket to seal the sending unit to tank with the new tank. The bladder was the gasket on your original tank. Check Willcox, site on left side of this page. Good luck with it. mike...
Going to bring this one back to life.
I am in the process of getting my car painted so while I have the bumper off, I was thinking of cleaning up my tank. What should I change now so I don't have to worry about it again later. I would like to get all the parts before I drop it. I am sure it is original and does not look like it has ever been off. It is a 1979 L-48.
