Re: Tire Lettering (Volts)
If your running stock wheels, white letters out. If you have after market, black out. That's what I am doing. Hopefully next year I will move up to 17" or 18" alum. with black out tires.

I used to want the white lettering on the outside so it could be seen, and I could never figure out why people wanted them hidden. Well, I bought some high-performance tires and guess what...no lettering. Now when I buy some mid-performance tires (like the T/A Radials I've got now) then I hide the lettering so nobody knows whether they are G-Force R1's or just a street tire.

I just got new Firestone Firehawks and wrestled with the same question. I looked at as many pictures as I could find to see what they'd look like on my car. Even saw a few Corvettes at a Mecum auction with the Firehawks on them. The lettering looks a bit bigger than the BFG T/A's they replaced, but I still opted to go white-letters-out.

Get some BFG Radial T/A's and put the raised white lettering out. Classic look for a Shark. :yesnod:

Re: Tire Lettering (Volts)
By all means, White Letters out! When I get the good tires on my 69 I won't be able to get white letter tires. The white rubber for the white walls or letters makes the tires run too hot or something which is why high speed radial tires don't have them. Sooo, I will be looking for the best white paint I can find to bring back that distinctive 60's muscle car look by painting the letters white, like they should be!

Re: Tire Lettering (Volts)
I had the same question several months ago and I asked the Forum also. The overwhelming majority said letters out, so that's what I did and I'm happy with it (Firehawks). This may sound kinda' odd, but now when I step back and look at the car, it seems shorter (I had blackwalls before). More of a muscle car kind of look, and not quite as sleek looking as before. Different, but good.
