Its been 4 years today that my wife and I were hit by a drunk driver. We still havn't completely recovered from the crash, both physically and emotionally. The reason I posted this is in hopes that telling people about it will stop people from drinking and driving. If just one person reads this and does not get behind the wheel drunk then I have accomplished what I wanted to do.
Click the link below to see details of the crash. http://temp.corvetteforum.net/classi...n/index2.shtmlPLEASE DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE
I hope everyone has a great summer and remember to save the wave.
Im glad you're still here to keep the wave going.
This may not be the question to ask, but what color was that vette? the blue looks awesome...Are you going to paint your current C3 a similar color?? Good luck with the restoration of it.
You have said it all. I can't agree more. I made a pack with myself years ag o to never drive my performance cars (Camaro now Vette) after even 1 drink. I now will not drive at all after a drink. Seen to many accidents because of this. Ruins to many lives.
It looks like my posting this has accomplished what I set out to do. I wanted to get people to realize how a careless act can change someones life forever and not get behind the wheel drunk. Its been 4 years now and I can remember it like it was yesterday. My wife and I have been affected by this for life. We thank God we were not killed, which in itself was a miracle. A State Trooper here in Ohio was just killed by a drunk driver recently, leaving behind a wife and 2 small children, he was only 29 years old. As far as myself, I have recovered to almost 100%, but I do continue to have problems with my back. I also have flashbacks to the night of the crash, it is a scary feeling to feel like you are reliving the events of the crash. My wife althought she is doing much better now and will, I pray be released to work full time very soon, has had a much harder time physically. Her injuries were extensive(broken ribs, collar bone and pelvis) and the broken bones have not healed back correctly. The crash has helped us realize that we must cherrish every second we have together because in the blink of an eye it can be over. The driver was, as is the norm in these cases a repeat offender with multiple DUI's, no drivers license or insurance. He had been picked up the previous weekend for DUI and carrying a concealed weapon and had been in and out of jail most of his life(he was 34 at the time). He is currently serving 45 months in prison. He got 18 months for 3 counts of aggravated vehicular assault, and the rest of the time for the weapons charge and other charges relating to his DUI's and parole violations. I can gaurantee you he will drink and drive the day he gets out of jail. Someone on one of my posts talked about an umbrella policy on their insurance, if you do not have one of these policies you better talk to your agent on Monday and get one. I could write a book on the crap we went through in dealing with Insurance, lawyers and the legal system. It took them over a year to get this case to go to trial and convict this guy and all the while is was still drinking and driving. I would like to thank all of you who took the time to read this post and thanks for showing your concern. May God bless you. And remember DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE. Also remember to wave.

Amen. I got the drinking and driving kick out of my system many years ago. Thank goodness without any harm done. I shudder now to think of what I was up to in those days....Now I have a personal zero tolerance policy: I will not drive with even one beer in my system. Taxis are cheap. That may seem extreme to some but I am simply not comfortable driving with any alcohol in my blood. Thanks for the post. Needless to say, it is a very important subject.
I quit drinking completely fifteen years ago, but have seen hundreds of accidents over the years involving booze and driving. Have a sister who served five years in prison for a DUI accident. There is absolutly no reason to have anyone on the road who's is either drunk or high and behind the wheel. I'm glad you and your wife are slowly getting back to normal, if tht is ever possible. And I can only hope the drunk who hit you is quickly removed from the realm of the living without hurting anymore innocent people. He has obviously overstayed his welcome here on earth.
I think what you went through is a terrible thing, but some good will come out of it. You made a web site that shows the pics of the crash, along with your story. People will see your web site, and hopefully think about it when they consider driving after drinking. That is the good part of the situation. I have a friend who lived in Wyoming years ago. His wife and kids and he were out in the boat fishing, when they were hit by another boat with a drunk driver. One son was killed, the wife and other child were injured very badly. He talked about his situation every chance he got to try to persuade people to not drink and drive, including boats. He said that he figured he owed it to his son to talk about it even though he would rather not.
Oh yeah, BTW, I did more drinking and driving in college than I should have. I was young and dumb and shouldn't have. No more though. I got that out of my system in not too long and don't drive even after 1 anymore. I have kids to worry about, both mine and other drivers.
