I removed my w/strip because I only had it glued on. It origianlly was riveted on. I wabt to install the rivets back on because the window adjustment has been so difficult that I need every inch I can get. Hopefully the rivets will "pull it in" a little more.
I am not sure of the correct rivet to use. Should the rivet I choose be as tight as possible for the 3 holes in the Body of the car?
Any other tips for this install?
thanks
I don't know the exact size of the rivet, but it is a standard size. To know what size to use just check the fit in the hole on the metal retainer (the metal in the weatherstrip). It fits the hole in the metal retainer of the weatherstrip snug and not lose.
One thing you need to be careful of is the length of the rivet you use. Make sure you don't select one that is to long or you'll poke a hole in the outer edge of the weatherstrip. If you can't find on the right length, get one that is longer than you need, remove the nail from the rivet, cut it down to size and then reinstall the nail. It is easy to make the rivet a custom length.
