i have an 82 collector edition, brake pedal is hard, i had new calibers rebuild kit fitted, no brake oil leak ..what could the problem be?...what do i need to change or repair?
Check to make sure you have vacuum to the booster,
if good,
check booster vacuum line grommet,
if good,
check the booster to master body/rod seal
if good,
probably a bad diaphragm in the booster
If pedal travel is OK and the car stops but takes excessive pedal effort, then it sounds like a booster issue. Disconnect and plug the vacuum line to the booster and see how the car stops. If there is no difference in pedal effort, then the booster needs attention.

Read the sticky note on Bleeding the Brakes Please at the first of the forum. The pedal on my '81 was as hard as Chinese arithmetic until I followed the instructions. No problem since.

Reason: additional information
Do you have enough vacuum to the booster? After I CAREFULLY adjust carb idle mixture to get the highest vacuum readings, my brakes magically get better (hard pedal has feel).
