I wanted to get feedback on the status of my brake distribution block shown below. My concern stems from the warning light switch that appears to have been home built by a previous owner. Does the distribution block (center hole) look correct? If so, does anyone know where I can get just the warning light switch and not have to buy the whole block? Finally, do I need to replace the warning light switch at all, or will the home built piece make a good enough contact? Thanks for any help you can give.
When working properly it activates the dash light to indicate a failure in either the front or rear brake system, and at the same time when the internals reposition due to system failure it internally shuttles to one side and ensures that you don't have a total system failure.
The valve is really cheap insurance! Plus; you already have it completely removed!
I vote for a new proportioning/combination valve replacement.
That's an older style (not home made) that does not latch the switch on when one brake system fails. It has a spring on either side of the differential piston that centers the piston (turns the light off) when you take your foot off the brake.
