L88 HOOD needs move forward ?
All,
I bought L88 hood Short from Ecklers for my 69 and attached to hood hinges and needs to move a little over 1/8 inch forward to the nose....should I slot my hinges or any other hints I'm missing??

I had to do most of my mods to the front hinges in order to get mine to fit correctly. Problem was my holes did not even line up. So I had to elongate the holes. Also had to shim the pass side because it sat to low up by the pin release.

Mine just sat too far over, couldn't even put the hood down it would've chipped my new paint around the hinge area. Had to modify the holes in the hinges and shim the crap out of both sides to make it level and centered. 1/8" isn't anything compared to how off mine was. My new hinges could have been some of the problem with lining up too!

I bought a long L-88 hood for my '72 at Eckler's garage sale back in the early 80s. Hood looked good but turned out to have the wrong mounting plates. Swapped the plates from my stock hood and it almost fits. I think it's time to move the core support to get it to fit right. With no shims under the hinge the hood still sticks up on the driver side. Luckily, the car is bare fiberglass so I can try moving just about everything. Guess that's why the paint and body guys get the big bucks.
