Default Engine Hiccup?

Today is the first day I've driven my car in weeks and after a 2 hour run around town I park my car and the engine does something I can best describe as a hiccup. The car rocked and the engine made a noise as if air was coming out from the carburetor. Does anyone have any idea what this may be?

"Run-on", timing might be too far advanced .

It could also be idle is too high or carbon build up.

Try lowering idle first...this is easiest.

Next would be, check timing , retard a few degrees and see if problem goes away.

Carbon build-up has many cures..carb adjustment ..change plugs.....fuel octane...and so on.....

Good luck

If your car has a rough idle (assuming thats what you mean by 'hard'), the idle screw may have been adjusted in an attempt to improve it.
Adjusting the throttle blades open too far is the easiest way to induce run on.
Figure out whats causing the rough idle, and you can possibly close the throttle a bit.
