Has anyone used or know about the non-aquius coolant made by evans http://www.evanscooling.com. It's supposed to run at almost zero internal pressure with a higher boil point than the green or orange stuff.
I've run it in my vette for the last two years without a problem. It's expensive at $20-$25 a gallon. I like the little to no pressure process. I run mine with out a thermostat and my engine runs between 170-190 and up 200 degrees on a hot day (+95). You have to make sure you have all the antifreeze out of your current system. I do not drive my vette in the winter and do not have the heater lines hooked up. Rod
I'm kinda partial to water :). Use the appropriate amount of antifreeze for your location (or for where the car might be). Using more antifreeze than is needed for protection aganst freezing is a waste of money and doesn't cool as efficiently. If water isn't cooling your engine adequately, you have a problem and you should fix that problem rather than looking for a "band aide".
I run a Hi flow water pump and standard anti-freeze. I run about 185-190 in the summer sitting in traffic. I also have used water wetter and works well also. assuming your cooling system is up to par. :yesnod: :yesnod:
It's very simple. You don't need to determine how much water or antifreeze to mix. You system doesn't have to work under high pressure which reduces you chances of leaks. It's not corrosive so you don't need to worry about distilled water. Sounds pretty simple to me. Does it work better than water and antifreeze, don't know. Is it an alternative that works? Yes. Did I have problems with my system when I started using it? No. Engine was just cleaned after being stroked and bored, new radiator and water pump and I eliminated the heater hoses. IMO, I like the stuff and will continue to use it. Read the documentation on the product.
From what I've read (I'm no mechanical engineer) there are a few reasons to run a thermastat but the one that got me to put one back in mine is that the engine works best at operating temp, somewhere between 160 and 190. The quicker your engine gets there the better. You tune your car at operating temp so it probably runs diff if the engine temp is above/below that temp. Just food for thought.
BTW I sure don't do everything your are supposed to do. :)
Fevre, I would run a thermostat if I wasn't running with the Evans Coolant. On average my car runs between 170 & 190. If it ran cooler I would install a modified thermostat that restricted coolant but still let coolant pass.
