I've been wondering what a '63 split rear window would look like on a C3.
I've seen something similar on a Motion Mako here on the forum.
If anyone has pictures of anything similar, please post.
Thanks,
TJ
like on a 78-82? where its a bar down the middle of the glass? i dunno how you could pull it off, but it sounds kinda cool
Theres an idea. Take the rear glass from one of those years to make a mold, then lay 'glass in it, and when its dry, just cut out where you want the rear windows to be. The beauty is, you could probably use the window used for the mold, to make the acual window, so no custom glass(read: $$$$$$$$) would be needed.
There is a kit available for the C4's for this conversion, and there was also a frame and glass set from a 63 on eBay in the last couple of days. If I can find it I'll post a link. It should not be hard to do.
Re: Idea for Mod., Pictures anyone? (Rolling Thunder)
I have a corvette book here with a foto of a clay model that was built pre c3 era. GM toyed with the idea of a boat tail (c2) style rear on a c3. I like it.

I dont see why you could'nt have the stock 78 glass cut in the same fashon as a split window and lay in some custom fiberglass work between . The problem would be the interior and exterior trim. I have been thinking about the same thing and think it would look  picture it in my white 78.
I would be willing to bet thats the look Corvette was going for when they disigned the fastback.
I just discussed this very idea with another forum member the other night.
I don't see why you would need to cut the glass. I had envisioned a simple overlay on the inside and outside of the existing glass.
The most difficult part would be fabricating the window trim.
BUT, there is a reason they only did that for one year ('63). It limited visibility. Just to see if you could live with the limited visibility and if you liked the look, you could temporarily cover that area with electrical tape. Then decide if you liked it.

You could try the trim from the frunt window, reversed meaning the pasinger side corners on the inside drivers side and the drivers side corners on the pasingers side inside
