Default Barry Grant Ceases Operations

This is sad to hear.

Carburetor and fuel system company Barry Grant Inc., maker of Demon carburetors and other products, ceased company operations Feb. 18, citing economic woes.

“The economic situation has put the company in the position of not being able to find working capital needed to continue operations and get a chapter 11 reorganization plan through the court,” said Barry Grant, company founder, in a letter announcing the closure.

He added that production delays caused by faulty equipment further damaged the company’s cash flow, and that Barry Grant Inc. would be converting to chapter 7 liquidation after 26 years of business.

“Working with all of you has been the experience of a lifetime,” Grant said in the letter. “I will value your support as friends, customers, vendors and media contacts forever. Thank you for your many years of support.”

The company is based in Dahlonega, Ga

I hope I am not breaking any rules here;

Scott Witmer posted a very sad statement on the 3rd gen board. My god, what a kick in the guts for those folks. Decades ago Barry Grant was a ground breaker in bringing custom Holleys to us low budget guys. Very cool with their support. Certainly a loss to all of us.

ps Scott is the BG gen manager

Yes sad news, they had some great innovations and new products. My feeling is what they made was more than what the/our market could support. Edelbrock had to remove their improved Q-jet years ago because of weaker sales and competition with their other line of carbs.
Hey good carbs are cheap as ever and there is fewer buyers every year.

I do grieve their passing,

I was thinking the same thing. I have a new in the box Mighty Demon 750cfm carb I bought six years ago. I think I will keep it b/c I'm sure that someone will step up and make parts. (wishful thinking) The carb is dying a slow death.

Sad to hear this, the poor economy is hurting a lot of good folks, I've had numerous Demons over the years, always liked them for their simplicity...

The only parts in a carb kit for a Demon carb that are not exactly the same as the parts used on Holley carbs and the other Holley clones are the main body to base plate gaskets. I talked to the company that supplied those gaskets and they are planning on making them to the aftermarket.
