Default Park/Neutral safety switch

Starting to reassemble my 72 and I am now installing the shifter back in. I put a new Park/Neutral switch in and to adjust it I want to do it before the console goes on. Also to adjust this switch the lower screw is down in the shifter hole so the shifter needs to be unbolted to adjust. My real issue is that I am going to be putting my 2004r tranny in as soon as the interior is completed. So the question is if I adjust the switch now to start in park only the neutral side should be good? Also will the setting be the same for the 2004r or am i going to have to wait to do adjustments once the new tranny is in? I would think Park wont change and since the switch does Park neutral starting I would think it should be ok if I set it now. Your thoughts?
Thanks
Rodney

my adjustments were different from stock to the 700r4....not too different but just enough that the reverse lights some times dont kick on. i would make my adjustments before you put it all back together. i didnt and had to go back in
