Default Tires - Looking for Help

I've got some big boy BF Goodrich tires on the back of my Vette (P295/50R15), smaller in front.

Apparently these are on a nationwide backorder, and only someone who has them in stock would still have some, though through regular channels I can't find anyone.

My tires are almost brand new, but the rears are very dry rotted.

Rather than replace all 4, I'd like to replace just the rears, however, since I can't find any and apparently won't be able to get some for a few months...am I ok to drive on dry rotted tires? For a weekend car, this won't see much action, and as long as I'm not tearing it up or driving 100 mph should I be ok?

(also, if anyone might know of a source to get these, please let me know!)

You probably checked these already:

http://www.performanceplustire.com/p...tm_medium=feed

http://superbuytires.com/tires/model...ich/Radial+TA/

http://www.samsclub.com/sams/shop/pr...oductId=160058

I wouldn't drive on dry rotted tires.
Not saying I haven't done so but not a good idea, ask me how I know.
My wife had a blow out on what superficially looked like a good tire with maybe 90%thread left.

I hadn't checked those three specifically, but sure will. Thanks for the tip.

Looks like driving on them is out of the question.

Talked with a pretty knowledagble person at TireRack.com just now, and it seems this tire has been on backorder for some time, and the manufacturer has been "making" them for the last year or two, or as they tell the distributors anyway, so they it should be 4 to 6 weeks, but maybe not as they've heard that before.

TireRack is also out of the FireHawks and I guess since the BF Goodriches were out, people switched to those, and those are selling out as well.

Oh well, I'll continue the hunt to find some of these bad boys in stock somewhere.

Not to hijack your thread...but, I'm thinking of putting BFG 295/50/15on mine. Do you have a pix of the rear of your car with the 295s on it? What back space and how wide a rim do you have?

I'm thinking of a 15x10 with a 5" backspace. I have VBP offset trailing arms that have the parking brake bracket relocated to the top of the arm.
