Default Aluminum Radiator for C3

I'm looking to reduce the temp of a 75 Corvette by 15+ degrees with new aluminum radiator. Was thinking of Dewitt but that's 500. Does anyone know a good reliable cheaper aluminum radiator for an every day driver? Thanks.

You are kicking a hornet's nest. Seems like everytime someone asks that, they get mobbed by Dewitt and his followers.

Look for a thread by Pauldana. He went with someone else's aluminum rad and was pretty happy with it.

It was discussed last week:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-t...-radiator.html

At the top of the forum you will see "search this forum". Just click on and type in a subject. Should get a number of hits to review. Just a FYI.

good luck.

I replaced the radiator in my 68 a couple years ago. Went to an aluminum one. I found a place on ebay that made radiators. I measured the size I needed gave them a call and got one for $175. Fit and works great! Lowered my engine temp too

Why? If you want to run cooler, Have a radiator shop rebuild your original with a high density core and then run a Stewart water pump and 160 degree thermostat. Mine never gets over 180 even on a hot day going up a hill.

Bought my Champion 4 row off eBay and the guy is first class to deal with. Told me if it didn't do what I needed he would refund my money including the shipping. Works great here in south Florida summers. I don't have A/C but 9.6:1 compression versus stock.

Eric, (palmbeachvette76) hate to ask this question on someone elses thread but was wondering where you got your fan shroud/corvette plate. Great looking piece!

It was from when I had the dual electric set up, it's the sill plate decal off the 2010-2011 Corvettes (not ZR1). When I put the factory shroud set up back on I cut the center section out and used a black sharpie on the lettering.

Sorry to revive an old thread but I want to get my facts straight.

I have a 75' small block non a/c and wanted to upgrade to a 4 row Champion Aluminum rad MC478 and add Vintage A/C and want to know if the 4 row will fit without modifications using the stock clutch fan? I noticed the 4 row is slightly larger but then the stock 75' rad with a/c was 4 row.

MC478 Radiator Dimensions:4 row
Total: 19.5" tall x 33.5"wide (top) 32.5" (bottom)
Core: 17" tall x 27.5" wide x 2.75" thick
Inlet: 1.5" driver side
Outlet: 1.75" passenger side
Tanks: 3.25" thick
Tubes: 0.63" thick

3-Row Core
Total: 18.5" tall (19.75" with cap) x 32.5" tall (top) 31.5"(bottom)
Core: 16.5" tall x 27.5" wide x 2" thick
Inlet: 1.5" driver side
Outlet: 1.75" passenger side
Tanks: 2.5" thick
Tubes: 0.63" thick

I have the '81 version in my car. I recommend it in every one of these threads and no one ever listens to me.

I just put my Champion 3 row in today as a matter of fact. It came with two 12" electric fans and I installed a thermostat switch as well. I don't know if i like the probe on the hayden thermostat switch but it works. I may buy a different unit that is a little more aesthetically pleasing. I have the fans comming on at 190.

Wow, I forgot about this thread.

FYI, I bought a DeWitts 2 row almost two years ago and would highly recommend it.

I guess your champion didn't last long, huh?

It was working. I just wanted the best and the DeWitts does fit perfect in comparison. I was also chasing cooler temps but it turned out to be an inaccurate autometer electric gauge.

Thanks everyone for the replies although my question was never answered.

Jim78SA, thanks for the info and in doing a search I know the 3 rows fit the small block 75' my question was about the 4 row.

For the OP. I had similar issue. In the end I replaced my radiator with a Dewitt's during their sale and it solved the issue. Reduced temps by over 20 degrees. Buy the zip corvette model for 399. It's made by Dewitt's. Some have had good luck with others but unsure if they are the same design and no way are they the same quality.

I had a 4 row champion it fit in Stock bracket but went with DeWitts after the champion should work good for stock engine I had a lot of trouble with the electric fan set up. Dewitts set up was one and done. But I think with original shroud if it doesnt break and fan clutch should be good. But for a couple hundred more you'll be set with a Dewitts
