I don't always want to drag T tops along and sometimes want to still protect against possible showers when the car isn't home for a while. I'm tall so don't like the T Tops in but don't like to lug them along either. So, I found this convert like fold up nylon sort of thing at Mid America Motorworks called Protect A Top.
It folds up in a thin soft case and tucks easily and lightly away.
When you want to use it just roll up the windows, put it over the top and fasten the two velcro strap rigs over the center bar and then position it and push the suction cups on the inside of the side flaps against the window and you should have good protection while the car sits from rain getting into the cockpit area.
I apologize for the crappy photo but it was my cell phone and had a smudge on the lens. Never the less, you can see some idea of what it looks like.
That's awesome....I don't like lugging my tops around as well....
Handy to have in the car in case of sudden rain....
Have you had to drive with that on ? (non highway of course !)

Here's what Mid America says....and I'd think with the forward edge not fastened and the suction cups for the glass on the sides pushed on from the outside it wouldn't work while driving.
"Now You Can Leave Your Factory Tops Stored While Parked
* Lightweight, Durable, Easy To Install & Store
No more struggling with heavy, awkward factory T-tops & Targa Tops when you park your Corvette for a short time. Lightweight, dependable protection for 1968-10 Corvette Coupes, our Performance Choice Corvette Protect-A-Top takes only seconds to put on, weighs under five pounds, folds for easy storage and protects your Corvette's interior from UV damage & light rain. Reinforced panels are covered with a black high-grade fabric. Integrated fastening system allows for quick, snug installation in seconds. For stationary use only. Coupes only. Specify year. Storage bag included."
It is $139 plus shipping so not a huge expense. I may spray tent waterproofing silicone spray from kmart on it as well but for short stays or overnight when you don't want to lug t tops but be sure the inside stays dry I think it will work great. Not a secure, locked thing either. I don't use my car in ways that I need the t tops 99.99% of the time so this fills a need for me.
Thanks Lance ! I'm going to order one up....
You should get on p/t with Mid America in sales as they should be paying you commission....you sold me !
Nice 76' btw !
From: Who says "Nothing is impossible" ? I've been doing nothing for years.
That's nice but too bad you can't drive with them on. I have the Amtops
on mine and that's all I ever use now and I can drive at highway speeds with them on. They latch down just like the normal tops but are canvas and very light. They fold in half and don't take up much room in the back in the bag they come in. Too bad they stopped making them a long time ago
I would have liked the Amtops but for obvious reasons didn't find anything like them. I actually put the Protect A Top on without attaching it when the car sits in the garage for times between driving just to keep any airborn dust down from the interior even though my garage is insulated and warm.

G'day,
I agree with you. Surely there must be some company that would be interested in re-manufacturing the Amtops if they thought that there was a big enough of a demand?
Can someone contact Mike Yager and ask him for his input?
I'd sure buy a set if the price wasn't too high, and I'm sure that there are plenty of other C3 owners who'd ante up if the product was available.
