The heat shields used in 81-82 (and on 1980 CA 305's) were different than what was found on 1980 and earlier Corvettes. This was because of the tubing "headers" used on these cars.
I don't think you should have a left front heat shield, on an 82. The right front uses one of the "J" shaped shields, like those found on earlier cars. The left and right rear shields are stamped steel units that wrap around the 2 rear plugs on each side, and serve as both a heat shield and ignition shield.
Funny thing, I took a look at the 80-82 Judging Manual, and found that the information there is incorrect. What's there is correct for Federal emission 80's, but not CA 80's, or 81-82's. I think this is because the 80-82 Manual was created by modifying the 78-79 Manual. It appears that the shielding configuration section was never updated from the 78-79 Manual. That's just one more thing to add to my next letter of Judging Manual updates/corrections for Brian Pierce (the 78-82 National Team Leader).
i have my 82 6 years now and i been under that hood many times, so Iam sure that there are 4 heat shields, mid america has them but only listed up to 1979. maybe someone befor me put them on, but they are there

Found this old post and thought I would add some pictures of the ignition shielding. Left, drivers side. Right, passenger side.
BTW - The engine block mounting holes moved when they started using the new casting in '80. The older '79 and down heat shield boomerangs do not fit/interchange to the newer blocks.
