There is also another problem with poly's on the control arms, that is seldom mentioned, namely the bolts tend to come loose. This is also due to the fact the bushings rotate in their housings. For an application like that you would need a threaded shaft with a castle nut to secure the nut and not a bolt.
I've had that happen on mine and have now secured all the bolts with loctite. I fell for the hype of poly not having done my homework. Duh.
Tell you what. I changed over the factory rubber trailing arm bushings on my '74 to poly a while ago.
I could instantly tell the poly bushings, due to their hardness, increased the noise and harshness of the ride. I immediately did not like them.
I intend to change them back to what Chevrolet intended. But it's such a PITA, I have been stalling.
