Default Exhaust questions

Last year, the exhaust pipe in my 79 broke behind the catalytic converter. I was driving when it happened and the noise was pretty incredible. Anyway, after I crawled underneath, I saw that the mount bolts had comeout.

I was able to purchase some more bolts and get the pipe up off the road, but the damage was done. So here's my question. The exhaust mount on my car consists of a "heavy duty" slice of reinforced rubber with a rectangular metal plate at the base for the exhaust pipe to mount on. The top of the slice also had some holes for bolting it to frame cross-shaft. The aftermarket vendors (Zip, Corvette Central, etc,) show two brackets, one prior to the crossshaft and one after for mounting the pipes to the frame.

My car has the Borg-Warner four speed, and there is a specific backet shown for manual applications. That bracket is not on my car. The rear bracket shown in the catalogs is also not on my car. The catalogs do NOT show any type of rubber mounting for exhaust. Am I a victim of Bubba, or did some vettes roll off the line with the rubber mount and no front mount? I want to install the exhaust correctly.

For those of you that may have noticed, I've posted a few questions to the forum recently. I have a 79 that wasn't taken very good care of. I hope to get it out late this summer, but it needs some serious TLC before that happens. The forum has been an awesome source of experience and wisdom and I always appreciate the responses I get from eveyone. Thanks.

For 79 the front bracket at the trans crossmember is the same for both manuals and automatics. That's because the original exhaust was the Y pipe 'single' exhaust.
For a dual exhaust conversions there is a specific manual trans mounting bracket. Not so much for automatic applications as the 350 trans was never installed into a dual exhaust Vette from the factory.
I have seen a hanger concoction from Mid America that works for the auto.

The hanger just rearward of the catalytic convertor is a heavy duty dual rubber strip deal. Two rubber strips bolt to the frame and to a bracket that bolts to the exhaust pipe with 2 bolts and a strap.

I'm assuming your exhaust is still Y pipe-convertor-Y pipe-mufflers and not converted to duals?
