Purchased replacement lapbelts for my 75 from RIKS. The old ones worn and the retractors quite rusty. I just replaced the carpeting and did not note how the original belt came through the carpet on the side of the seat by the doors. Can anyone offer their expertise on this? Thanks!!
I just did this job on my 75 three days ago! Ok do you still have the two plastic seatbelt retractor covers? If not they are part#345451 (L) and 345452 (R) They screw in place with 4 screws to cover the retractors. You will have to cut the carpet around them so it fit just under the covers. The seatbelt follows the slot on them against the door sill plate. I will now go pull a seat and get you a pic. MAX
madmaxgt,
I have the plastice covers in place. There is a metal bracket, like a handle that bolts onto the side of the floorpan where the seat belt comes out of the retractor area. Should I put a slit in the new carpet there to allow the belt to come through at that area? Thanks for your input.
Yes! The bracket is a safety item im case the retractor breaks. Make sure the seatbelt runs under it and through the thin gap between the cover and the door sill. Also make sure the covers are fit correct and they will allow the 1/4 panel trim to align also. MAX
