What do you guys recommend for the rear, 7 or 9 leaf ? Is 7 standard and 9 high preformance?

Hi Robert, the 9 leaf is the stock/standard spring on most Corvettes. The 7 leaf was the optional HD spring. It was part of the F41 suspension package.

As for a recommendation, well that depends on what you want. The 7 leaf is superior in handling over the 9 leaf. The 7 leaf has a more firm ride and seems to maintain the ride height over several years. Also the 7 leaf eliminates most of the rear "squat" under hard accelleration.

A lot of members have went to a composite spring. I don't know much about those. Perhaps someone could share a bit of info on these.

I'll preface my opinion with the statement that my cars are used as drivers, not for racing. I'm sure racing introduces different requirments and there are plenty of members that can guide you if racing is your plan.

For driver cars, I LOVE the TRW Heavy Duty composite traverse spring. Get the heavy duty (highest rated) spring even if you have a small block. I have them on multiple mid-years and my 71' Roadster.
