fuel pump problem

I'm not familiar with 82's, but I just did some fuel pump work on my 77. Look on the passenger side of the engine at the front of the block, down low just past the control arm. If you see something mounted there, its a mechanical fuel pump. You will not hear that running when you turn the key.

I don't own a 82 but I do know that the fuel pump is electric and mounted on the fuel cell pick-up tube in the tank so you might not be able to hear it. I would imagine that there is a fuse or circuit breaker to protect it. Hopefully someone with 82 knowledge will chime in.

on new cars there is a crash solenoid so that if you are hit the fuel pump turns off...i dont know if the 82 has this or not but i suspect it does..find the override switch probably in the back and trip. look in owners manual for location of it
