82 Ignition switch problem
I'm getting a noise from the steering column that I assume is the ignition switch. It sounds like the noise you get when the car is off but the key is still in the ignition (high pitched). I get this while driving down the road (not every time) and also when I turn off the car and remove the key.
It has run down the battery several times. I can jiggle the key and sometimes the noise will stop. Has this happened to anyone else and any ideas on how to solve the problem?

i get no noise from my steering column at any time .i can not think of anything that would make noise in there .try the ignition switch again and listen where the noise is coming from.

Are you referring to the key left in the ignition warning tone?
