Default 1981 windshield Where do I get one?

So Ya,

I am wondering how hard it is to get a new windsheild.
Are they avaliable at the local glass shop or am I going to have to search for one??

Mine is ok but wouldn't mind a new one??

Thanks,

Jarred.

Its been a few years since I replaced the windshield in my 82 be it was no problem. State Farm at the time. Just called then and it was replaced. Sure the 81 and 82 are the same.

Most auto glass suppliers/installers should have them.

I called all of the glass companies to get quotes. Most are price competitive, so if you tell them that another company has a better price, they will usually try to beat it.
I paid $190 installed for mine

Safelite did mine ('70) three years ago...glass was made by "Pilkington"...$201 at that time. The guy came to my house and took 2 1/2 hours making sure the job was done perfectly. If you want numbers-matching, date-coded glass that would be another deal, but they will put a nice new piece of glass in your car for a reasonable price. You may be able to get a local yokel to do it cheaper but correctly installing a windshield on a C3 is a little tricky, I thought it would be better to go with a big company.

As others have said, you should be able to get a windshield from any auto glass installer. None of the windshields you get from a regular glass shop, will have the original logo or dating. So if your worried about NCRS or dead on originality, you'll need to order a repro.

Auto City Classic offers a correct repro LOF branded windshield, with what ever date code you want. They will ship you a windshield, and you can have it installed by a local shop. They're windshields are more expensive than replacement ones though.

Define "okay". Yours is original and has original codes and dates. Unless it needs to be replaced, my advice is to keep it.

Well I'm thinking of driving my vette on the hwy to work and alotta trucks and stones so I figure I'll need new glass. Right now it has a few pits but no chips or cracks. I just wanted to be sure it wasn't difficult to replace if I do get a crack
